How Testing Works

Testing may vary slightly for organization to organization.

If you plan to be tested at a non-Public Health site, contact them directly with questions.

Here are the steps taken at Public Health drive-up testing sites:

By appointment (available at all Public Health testing sites):

  1. Make an appointment by calling (406)258-INFO and select Option 2.

  2. Drive up to the testing site at given appointment time.

  3. Drive to the "Education Station" to learn more about COVID-19, testing, and quarantining.

  4. Drive to the "Swabbing Station" where you will swab both of your nostrils yourself. A nurse will be present to help you.

  5. If you received a rapid test, drive to the designated parking area to await your test result.

  6. Drive home and quarantine (See "Key Terms") until you receive results.

Same-day drive up (available ONLY at mobile test sites):

  1. Drive up to the mobile testing site.
